Azerbaijani wine producer "Sharg Ulduzu" LLC plans to expand the geography of exports of its products, the Director of the company Askar Alirzayev told Trend Aug. 28.
He said Mongolia will be a new market for the export of Azerbaijani wines and cognacs produced by "Sharg Ulduzu" LLC.
"By the end of the year, we plan to visit this country to participate in the Azerbaijan–Mongolia business forum. We expect to establish contacts with Mongolian entrepreneurs during this trip in order to start exporting wine products to Mongolia in the near future. To do this, we plan to study the consumer market of Mongolia. It is a small country, and, of course, we do not expect large exports, however, this will be another opportunity to promote domestic brand "Made in Azerbaijan" outside of our country," he said.
"Azerbaijan mainly exports meat and varieties of meat products to Mongolia, and I believe that our wine products can also grab a niche in the consumer market of this country," the director of the company said.
Alirzayev noted that as of today Russia and China are the main foreign sale markets for wine products of "Sharg Ulduzu" LLC.
"Over the past year, the company exported approximately 60 percent of its products, in the future we expect to increase this figure", Alirzayev said.
In 2017, Azerbaijan exported wine products worth $6 million, including Azerbaijani wines worth about $1 million that were supplied to China.
The export of Azerbaijani wine products for 1H2018 has exceeded $4 million, which is 80 percent more than the indicator for the same period of 2017.
The main export destinations of Azerbaijani wine are Russia (85%), China (7%), European countries, Belarus and Kyrgyzstan.
The country plans to increase exports of wine by five times until 2025 according to the State program of development of winemaking for 2018-2025, approved by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
