The Islamic Republic of Iran Railways may establish a Passenger Train Company in the coming Iranian year (begins March 21, 2019), Hassan Mousavi, Iranian Railways Deputy Director for Passenger Affairs, told ISNA news agency, Trend reports.
According to Mousavi, the Statute of the Passenger Train Company has been prepared.
"It is expected that the Charter of the Passenger Train Company will be approved at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers before the end of this year (started March 21, 2018)," he said.
Mousavi noted that the Iranian Railways will further expand the programs implemented by the company this year, adding that the company will increase the number of trains in the provinces next year.
"As for the quality of wagons, wagons older than 45 years have been dismantled," he said.
