Steel enterprise of Kazakhstan “ArcelorMittal Temirtau” plans to increase steel production by 18.4 percent to 4.5 million tons in 2019, Trend reports via Kazakh media.
Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar visited the enterprise.
The minister was told that the metallurgical plant should return to last year’s capacities in the first quarter. A third converter was commissioned the other day.
Executive director of ArcelorMittal Temirtau, Vadim Basin said that the company produces 9,500 tons of steel per day.
“This year the company plans to increase production from 3.8 million tons to 4.5 million tons,” the ministry said in a press release.
After the accident on the pipelines on November 10, 2018, the plant’s work was partially suspended for more than two months. This was followed by a slow exit to the working parameters, which led to a difficult financial situation. As a result, the company did not fulfill the business plan for financial and operating performance.
ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC is a part of the international steel group ArcelorMittal and is the largest enterprise in the mining and metallurgical sector of Kazakhstan. The company includes a metallurgical complex, coal mines in the Karaganda region, and iron ore mines in the Karaganda, Akmola and Kostanay regions.
