Luch, a Russian enterprise in Stavropol Krai (a federal subject of Russia), is planning to export wheat seeds to Turkmenistan, Trend reports referring to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Stavropol Krai.
The relevant contract is scheduled to be signed in mid-May this year. The export volume of the supplies of winter wheat seeds will be 10,000 tons in 2019.
"Moreover, based on the volumes declared by the Turkmen side, the company can also supply barley seeds, alfalfa and other crops," the Deputy Agriculture Minister of Stavropol Krai Andrey Oleynikov said.
The cultivation of Russian wheat seeds in Turkmenistan has been continuing since 2007 as part of the implementation of the protocol of the CIS Intergovernmental Coordination Council on seed issues. During this period, the varieties Batko, Nota, Vassa, Irishka, Krupinka and Yubileynaya-100 have been successfully cultivated in Turkmenistan.
Presently, Turkmenistan is preparing to harvest grains. In 2019, it is planned to harvest 1.6 million tons of grains from 760,000 hectares of land.
