A round table meeting named “The First Caspian Economic Forum: investment opportunities for the European Union in the Caspian region and Central Asia” that was dedicated to the First Caspian Economic Forum to be held on August 12, 2019 in Turkmenistan's National Tourist Zone “Avaza" took place in Brussels June 5, Trend reports referring to Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
The event was organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Kingdom of Belgium jointly with the European Institute of Asian Studies.
Secretary-general of the Energy Charter Urban Rusnak, staff members of the Central Asia Department of the European External Action Service, European Institute of Asian Studies, heads and employees of various organizations of the European Union, embassies and diplomatic missions of Caspian and Central Asian countries located in Brussels, as well as the representatives and experts of the economic, financial and investment entities participated at the meeting.
The presence of vast natural resources in Turkmenistan was noted during the speeches and an exchange of views took place on the opportunities of carrying them to the European energy markets.
According to a report by British Petroleum (BP), Turkmenistan ranks fourth in the world in terms of natural gas reserves.
The country has set a course for diversifying the local economy. The oil, gas, chemical, and building material industries are actively developing.
