Malaysia can act as a “hub” not only for importing Uzbek crops and fruits to its domestic market, but also for their re-export to Southeast Asian countries, Trend reports citing the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan.
This issue was discussed at a meeting of the Ambassador of Uzbekistan Ravshan Usmanov with Senior Director of Export Promotion & Market Access of the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) Mohd Mustafa Abd Aziz, which was was in the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, on October 7.
As reported, the parties also discussed practical aspects and the agenda of the upcoming visit of a delegation of business circles of Malaysia to Uzbekistan, which will include representatives of 18 large companies, on October 13-16, 2019.
During the visit, it is planned to hold a joint business forum, a cooperative exchange in the B2B format, a meeting with the leadership of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, as well as arrange visits to production and trading sites in Tashkent, in order to further diversify trade, economic and investment relations. Furthermore, in the framework of the upcoming business forum in Tashkent, it is planned to sign a number of agreements in the relevant areas of cooperation.
Aziz noted that such events will contribute to the expansion of trade and economic ties between the countries.
Following the meeting at MATRADE, the parties agreed to further strengthen cooperation.
MATRADE is the key government agency in Malaysia for the development of exports and the promotion of goods and services in foreign markets. The corporation has representative offices in more than 40 countries of the world, including the embassies of Malaysia abroad.
