The prices of various food products in Iran increased in the 6th month of the current Iranian year (August 23 through September 22, 2021), compared to the 5th month (July 23 through August 22, 2021), Trend reports citing the statistics of Statistical Center of Iran.
According to the statistics, the highest increase in prices of the group of cereal products was recorded for Iranian rice and pasta. So, the price for 1 kg of Iranian rice increased by 11.2 percent, amounting to $10.2, while for 500 gram of pasta the increase reached 5.2 percent (reaching $1.67).
In addition, the highest increase in prices of the group of red meat, white meat and meat products was recorded for trout. Thus, 1 kg of trout rose in price by 8.7 percent and amounted to about $16.5, as well as 1 kg of beef and veal rose by 4.5 percent to about $34.3, while 1 kg of broiler chicken fell by 2.4 percent to about $7.04.
“At the same time, the highest increase in prices of the group of dairy products, eggs and various cooking oils was recorded for pasteurized yogurt. So, the price of 1 kg of pasteurized yogurt increased by 18.3 percent and amounted to about $4.12, also 1 kg of pasteurized cheese rose by 15.4 percent to about $5.64, pasteurized milk rose by 7.4 percent to about $3.1 per liter, while the vegetable oil fell by 3 percent to about $4.93 per liter,” the statistics said.
Meanwhile in the group of fruits and dried fruits, the highest increase in prices was recorded for oranges (by 40.5 percent), which amounted to about $6.41 per kg. In addition, price for watermelon rose by 27.1 percent and amounted to $1.44 per kilogram, while peaches and banana prices fell by 1.4 percent and 1.3 percent, respectively, to about $5.59 and $6.82 per kilogram.
In the group of greens, vegetables, legumes, the highest increase was recorded for zucchini (23.2 percent), which amounted to about $2.4 per 1 kg. The price of carrots also rose by 21.7 percent to about $5.01 per kilogram, eggplant by 14.6 percent to $2.15 per kilogram, while tomatoes fell by 0.9 percent to $1.93 per kg.
Meanwhile, tomato paste increased in price by 12.8 percent (amounting to $5.83 per kg), and mayonnaise price rose by 9.2 percent (300 gr, to about $2.8).
