Iran’s non-oil exports through the Sarakhs railway in the Razavi Khorasan Province (north-eastern Iran) increased by 59 percent, during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through February 19, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of Iran’s Khorasan Railway Department Mostafa Nasseri Varg said, Trend reports citing Islamic Republic of Iran Railways (RAI).
The director general noted that more than 1 million tons of goods were exported by 16,000 freight wagons through the Sarakhs railway in 11 months.
Nasseri Varg also added that 815,000 tons of these goods were loaded at the Sarakhs railway terminal, which account for 81 percent of the total exports.
According to him, cement accounts for 31 percent of Iran’s total exports via the Sarakhs railway for the reporting period.
The director general noted that in 11 months, about 39 percent of total goods were exported to Uzbekistan, 37 percent - to Turkmenistan and the rest - to other countries.
“In addition, 1.38 million tons of goods were transited by more than 22,000 wagons via Sarakhs railway over 11 months. Transit through the railway line increased by 4.4 times compared to the same period last Iranian year,” Nasseri Varg said.
