BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 27. About 81.5 percent of Iran's agricultural and food products exports in value and 93 percent in volume accounted for neighboring countries, during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through January 20, 2023), a member of the international and foreign trade committee of the House of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran Rouhollah Latifi said on social media, Trend reports.
Latifi noted that Iran exported a total of 6.26 million tons of agricultural and food products worth approximately $4 billion. Of the mentioned amount, 5.8 million tons worth $3.26 billion were exported to neighboring countries.
“So, Iran exported agricultural and food products worth $1.26 billion to Iraq, worth $487 million to the UAE, worth $350 million to Pakistan, worth $317 million to Russia, and worth $252 million to Afghanistan in 10 months,” he added.
According to the official, Iran also exported agricultural and food products worth $154 million to Türkiye, worth $82 million to Azerbaijan, worth $69 million to Qatar, as well as worth $62.2 million to Kazakhstan, worth $60.3 million to Turkmenistan, worth $52.5 million to Kuwait, worth $52.4 million to Oman, worth $4 million to Bahrain, worth $126,000 to Saudi Arabia and $58 million to other countries.
Latifi also pointed out that the exported agricultural and food products were mainly pistachios, tomatoes, apples, watermelon, dates, various sweets, kiwi fruit, fruit juice, cheese, potatoes, shrimp, saffron, tomatoes and etc.
In general, Iran exported more than 103 million tons of non-oil products worth $45.3 billion within the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through January 20, 2023). This is an increase of 2.9 percent in value and 17 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.
