Iran's Shahid Bahonar port kicks it up notch with its loading/unloading operations

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 5. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at Iran’s Shahid Bahonar port in the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) grew by 32 percent during four months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through July 21, 2024), compared to the same period in the last year (March 21 through July 22, 2023), Director of the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) Hamidrza Muhammad Husseini told reporters, Trend reports.

According to him, nearly 769,000 tons of oil and non-oil products were loaded and unloaded in total at this port during the past four months.

He said that of this volume, 616,000 tons accounted for non-oil products, marking 49-percent year-on-year growth.

The official pointed out that over four months, about 153,000 tons of petroleum products were loaded and unloaded at the Shahid Bahoner port.

The loading and unloading of petroleum products increased by 131 percent compared to the same period last year.

He added that 20,126 containers were also loaded and unloaded at the Shahid Bahoner port in four months.

To note, nine ports are up and running in the eastern part of Hormozgan Province. Among them, the ports that are really buzzing with activity are Shahid Bahoner, Tiyab, and Jask.
