ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 26. Prodcorporation (Kazakhstan’s National Company “Food Contract Corporation”) has started shipping the first batch of high-quality Kazakh wheat to Vietnam, with a volume of 15,000 tons, Trend reports.
According to the information, a container train will depart from grain-receiving enterprises in the Akmola region of Kazakhstan.
“The delivery will be carried out using a multimodal scheme: first, the grain will be transported by rail to the international seaport of Lianyungang in China via the Dostyk – Alashankou border crossing, then it will be transshipped onto sea vessels and sent to the Vietnamese port of Hai Phong,” the information notes.
Moreover, Asylkhan Dzhuvashev, Chairman of the Board of JSC “NC Prodcorporation,” emphasized that the shipment of grain to Vietnam is of historic significance for the company. Entering the Southeast Asian market will be an important stage in the implementation of the strategy to diversify export directions and promote Kazakh agricultural products in international markets.
“Over the past five years, the national operator has annually supplied about 200,000 tons of grain to China to secure a foothold in this priority market for Kazakhstan. This year, we plan to increase export volumes by expanding the geography of supplies. Already, 60,000 tons of wheat have been shipped to the Kingdom of Morocco. As for Southeast Asia, this market has high potential and is promising for Kazakh agricultural producers,” noted Asylkhan Dzhuvashev.
The last shipment of Kazakh grain to Vietnam was in 2017. At that time, the shipment volume was only 720 tons.
Kazakhstan’s National Company “Food Contract Corporation” is building its export policy with a focus on strengthening its positions in distant foreign markets. The focus is on the countries of the European Union, the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa), as well as Southeast Asia.
