Production wells at two of Iran's oil fields are ready to add to the country's crude oil output, IRIB news reported.
The development of the Sarvestan and Saadatabad fields has moved ahead smoothly and progressed four per cent last month, said Mehdi Fakour the Iranian Central Oil Fields Company's (IOFC) managing director.
Work is finished on the pipelines that will transport oil from the two fields to the Shiraz refinery.
Fibre optic lines and alarm systems have been installed next to the pipelines to detect leaks both in the upstream facilities and at the refinery.
Sarvestan and Saadatabad will add 15,000 barrels to Iran's daily oil output, Mr Fakour told the Mehr News Agency in early August.
The fields are outside Shiraz in the Fars Province. Their reserves are projected to be 1.4 billion barrels.
In late September Iran announced that it will implement 11 plans by the Iranian calendar month of Mordad 1392 (July 22-August 22, 2013) with the goal of boosting oil production by 175,000 barrels per day (bpd).
In addition to Sarvestan and Saadatabad, the fields targeted for greater output are: Yadavaran, Sarvestan, Saadatabad, Hengam, Forouzan, Reshadat, Aban, and Paydar, according to a report published by the National Iranian Oil Company on August 25.
