Negotiations are scheduled between the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov and Romanian President Traian Basescu on Thursday, who will arrive on a two-day official visit to Ashgabat, the Turkmen government said.
'Another Turkmen-Romanian meeting at this level is intended to be another important step in the development of traditionally friendly relations which have received new content in recent times', the report says.
The agenda includes prospects for cooperation in the fuel and energy complex, trade, transport, communications, construction, agricultural industry, processing industry and tourism.
Following the negotiations, the sides are expected to sign a number of bilateral documents aimed at enhancing traditional inter-state cooperation in the light of its potential and prospects.
The Turkmen leader said at a government meeting that the Romanian president's visit will be the next step in strengthening the established fruitful dialogue with the European Union, which is one of the key vectors of the country's foreign policy.
Romania became a full member of the EU in 2007.
Brussels has been particularly active in seeking an alternative in the Caspian region, particularly in Turkmenistan after the energy crisis experienced in previous winter seasons because of non-coordination in transit of gas between major supplier Russia and key transit country Ukraine.
The state service Turkmen Dovlet Khabarlary reported on Thursday about the 'positive tone of the upcoming talks in Ashgabat at the highest level, the success of which stipulates the mutual interests and the impressive potential of our partnership'.
The Turkmen-Romanian intergovernmental commission on economic and scientific and technical cooperation plays a significant role in the development of the mutually beneficial partnership.
