A strong commercial oil inflow took place in Turkmenistan from the exploration well number 204 in the shoal of the Caspian North Goturdepe deposit, the Turkmenneft state concern reported.
The depth of the well is 4865 metres and the oil-bearing bed uncovered at a depth of 4815-4834 metres, the report says.
According to the report, research work is being held at this well in order to determine its efficiency. In 2011, well No.147 built at the marine part of North Goturdepe gave up 800 tons of oil per day in test mode and well No. 37 at 730 tons.
'In general, all of this shows the great potential of the Turkmen shelf and coastal zone of the Caspian Sea. It once again confirms expert predictions about the presence of extremely promising oil and gas structures in the country's subsoil and therefore a high probability of discovering new rich storehouses of hydrocarbons', the report says.
It is planned to drill two more directional exploratory wells, No. 205 and No. 206, in the coastal zone of the Caspian Sea soon. Several production wells will be built for the development of already explored hydrocarbon deposits.
The state concern started developing oil and gas fields in this area three years ago. This issue was raised recently at an international oil and gas conference in Ashgabat.
Representatives of the Turkmenneft state concern had noted that the good performance in shoal zones is down to a large degree stipulated by the use of modern equipment and the application of highly efficient technology of concurrent operation of two or more horizons at one well.
Currently, the state concern operates about 30 fields which include more than 600 oil and gas fields at varying stages of development.
