Uzbekneftegaz National Holding Company (NHC) of Uzbekistan has completed the construction of a booster compressor station (BCS) worth $261 million at the Gazli field in the Bukhara region, a source in Uzbekistan's government circles told Trend on Jan 31.
The main technological equipment for the new BCS was supplied by the British company Inox Oil Services Ltd, the source said.
The new equipment has replaced the completely depreciated BCS built at Gazli in 1962.
The construction was financed with Uzbekneftegaz own funds.
The new BCS will be included in the infrastructure of the Central Asia-China pipeline commissioned in December 2010.
It was previously reported that currently the third branch of the pipeline is being constructed. This will increase its capacity from 30 to 40 billion cubic meters per year.
In 2008, the Uzbekneftegaz constructed five BCS gas pumping units.
The Gazli gas field - one of the largest in Uzbekistan's Bukhara-Khiva region, has been in operation since 1961. The initial gas reserves of the field reached about 500 billion cubic meters. Currently, they are depleted.
The gas from the Gazli field is transported via Bukhara-Ural and Central Asia-Centre pipelines used for gas exports from Uzbekistan to the Urals and the European part of Russia.
