External auditors from Intertek, a multinational inspection, product testing and certification company headquartered in London, UK, conducted a recertification audit of the integrated management system of the Black Sea Terminal (BST, Kulevi Oil Terminal) of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR, according to the article on the terminal’s website.
The main objective of the audit was the evaluation of the compliance of the company’s processes with the requirements of the applied international standards, according to the message.
The external audit covered all the important operational and auxiliary processes, including service planning and provision, performance and customer satisfaction evaluation, document control, occupational health and safety, as well as environmental management and quality control, the message noted.
Additionally, the external audit reviewed the status of previous recommendations, reads the message.
According to the audit team members, the BST management system was found to be fully effective and no non-conformities were issued, said the message.
“BST fulfilled all recommendations given during the last recertification audits and demonstrated a strong ability to improve and excellent development of its integrated management system,” the message said. “Additionally, some important recommendations were given by the external audit team members for further improvement of BST’s integrated management system and preparation for the next recertification audit.”
The integrated management system of the Black Sea Terminal LLC was certified by all three standards by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) Accredited Certification Body – Moody International LLC in 2008, after six months of operation.
Since that time, the terminal has passed one certification, two recertification and six surveillance audits.
The terminal in Georgia’s Kulevi was commissioned in May 2008 and the oil transshipment started in June of the same year. The total capacity of the terminal is 10 million tons of bulk-oil cargo per year, three million tons of oil, three million tons of diesel fuel and four million tons of fuel oil.
