A plant for the production of synthetic fuel will be commissioned in Ovadandepe, near the Turkmen capital, in 2018, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported.
According to the information given by the client – Turkmengas state concern, this plant will for the first time in the world carry out large-volume distillation of natural gas into liquid fuel – gasoline.
The Gas-to-Gasoline (GTG) project, based on the technology of the Danish company Haldor Topsoe, will allow processing annually 1.785 million cubic meters of natural gas and produce 600,000 tons of RON 92 gasoline that meets Euro-5 requirements.
Synthetic fuel will be characterized by almost ideal environmental characteristics, says the report.
A consortium of companies Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. (Japan) and Ronesans Endustri Tesisleri Insaat Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. (Turkey) concluded an agreement with Turkmengas state concern to start the production in late 2018. Total cost of the project is almost $1.7 billion.
