One of the largest Russian energy holdings, RusHydro, will develop a feasibility study for the construction of two hydroelectric power plants in Uzbekistan, Uzbek media reported.
During the First Interregional Cooperation Forum between Russia and Uzbekistan, being held in Tashkent, RusHydro and Uzbekhydroenergo signed an agreement on cooperation in development of Uzbekistan’s hydropower sector.
"The key point of the agreement is the creation of a joint working group that will begin developing a feasibility study in 1Q2019 for construction of the Mullalak hydropower plant with a capacity of 240 MW and the Upper-Pishkom hydropower plant with a capacity of 200 MW on the Pskem (Pishkom) River in Uzbekistan, including design, survey and research,” the Russian company noted.
Also, RusHydro and Uzbekhydroenergo will expand cooperation in construction, operation and technological development of other hydropower facilities in Uzbekistan. The sides expressed confidence that the intensification of such cooperation in the hydropower sector will contribute to the strengthening of trade and economic ties between Russia and Uzbekistan.
