Azfen Construction and Engineering Company, a joint venture of the Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR and Turkey’s TEKFEN company, is repairing the Georgian part of the Baku-Supsa pipeline upon the order of BP company, Azfen told Trend.
The implementation of a program has been recently launched to replace the sections of the pipeline on the Georgian part of the oil pipeline, BP said.
Only eight million barrels of oil were exported via Baku-Supsa pipeline this year. Some 28 million barrels of oil accounted for the export to the Black Sea coast of Georgia in 2018.
The Baku-Supsa oil pipeline was commissioned on April 17, 1999. The oil pipeline is 837 km long and 530 mm in diameter. The pipeline with a capacity of 7.5 million tons of oil per year was built within a contract for the development of Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) fields.
Azfen was established in 1996 by SOCAR (60 percent) and Tekfen (40 percent).
The company’s main objective is to carry out the construction and engineering work for oil companies.
