A new wind farm will be built in Turkey, said Mustafa Yilmaz, head of the country’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK), Trend reports with reference to Turkish media.
Yilmaz said that a new wind farm with capacity of 2,000 megawatts will be built in April next year.
The EPDK head noted that wind farms are the most cost-effective power plants in Turkey.
At the same time, Yilmaz didn’t disclose the amount and location of the object.
Earlier, former Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Berat Albayrak said that Turkey plans to invest $1 billion in the development of renewable energy sources.
Albayrak noted that the construction of new power plants will increase Turkey’s energy security.
The former minister also noted that the new project on the development of renewable energy sources will provide jobs for about 3,750 people.
