Exports of petroleum products via Iran's Shahid Bahonar Port, located in the country's Hormozgan province, increased by 95 percent in the first nine months (from March 21 to Dec. 21, 2019) of the current Iranian year, compared to the same period last year, Director of Hormozgan Sahid Bahonar Ports and Maritime Organization Hamidreza Mohammad Hosseini said, Trend reports referring to the organization's website.
During the reported period, 64,300 tons of petroleum products were exported through the port, Mohammad Hosseini said.
In total, during the nine-month period, over 1.6 million tons of oil and non-oil goods were loaded and unloaded at the port, which is 19 percent more compared to the same period last year, the director said.
Of the loaded and unloaded goods at the port, 384,000 tons accounted to the share of oil products, while 1.23 million tons fell to the share of non-oil products, he added.
According to the director, the loading and unloading operation increased at the province's Jask, Sirik and Tiyab ports by 54 percent, 131 percent and 38 percent, respectively.
Mohammad Hosseini noted that the passenger transportation has increased by 64 percent at the port and 47,000 foreign citizens were transported via this port in the reported nine-month period.
Shahid Bahonar Port has the capacity for loading and unloading 2.5 million tons of goods annually and handle ships with tonnage up to 40,000 tons.
