Iran's usage of skid-mounted processing unit will accelerate the projects on the development of the oil fields, jointly owned by Iran and other countries, Executive Director of Iran’s Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDEC) Touraj Dehghani said, Trend reports with reference to the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC).
Touraj Dehghani made the remarks at the ceremony dedicated to the signing of an agreement on the construction of skid-mounted processing unit on the South Azadegan oil field jointly owned with Iraq (this field is called Majnun in Iraq), in Iran's Khuzestan province.
Iran's oil field development project is one of the most investment demanding projects, Dehghani said, adding that some 60 or 70 percent of the funds are required for drilling and improvement of wells.
About 20 percent are needed for transportation pipelines and other facilities, while 7 or 8 percent are required for operation and sweetening, Dehghani said.
The PEDEC executive director noted that 150 wells have been drilled and developed at the South Azadegan field in a short period.
The reason for the delay in the development of the fields is this issue of 7-8 percent, Dehghani said.
The technical complexity of this area can delay the development project for many years, the director added, noting that this issue is of even greater importance in joint fields.
The rapid local construction of the skid-mounted processing unit by is a positive case, Dehghani said. The director added that this unit has full processing capacity and will be used for the first time at the South Azadegan oil field.
The agreement on the construction of skid-mounted processing unit on the South Azadegan oil field envisages design and engineering services, supply, production and installation, commissioning, repair of equipment and refining of 50,000 barrels of oil on the field per day.
The processing unit will be designed and constructed within 15 months.
Presently, Iran extracts 140,000 barrels of oil a day from South Azadegan oil field.
In accordance with the field development project, 320,000 barrels of crude oil and 5.5 million cubic meters (197 million cubic feet) of natural gas will be extracted daily at phase 1 till March 21, 2021.
After the operations are over at the phase 2, some 280,000 barrels of crude oil will be extracted at this phase.
A total of 600,000 barrels of crude oil are expected to be extracted from these phases daily.
