The second gas phase of the Khorramabad thermal power plant has been connected to the general electricity network of Iran, Amir Dudabinejad, executor of private thermal power plants’ projects at Iran’s Thermal Power Plants Holding Company said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Energy.
According to Dudabinejad, with the start of production of this phase, the power generation at the station has reached 324 megawatts.
Dudabinejad added that with the commissioning of 160-megawatt steam phase in the winter of this year (starting March 20, 2020), the plant's production will reach 484 megawatts.
The official said that 140 million euros were spent on the construction of the second gas phase of Khorramabad TPP.
"About 172 million euros were spent on the construction of the steam phase. About 38 percent of it was provided by the investor and 62 percent by the National Development Fund as a loan,” he said.
The investment was made in cooperation with the Bank Melli Iran, Saba Company affiliated with the Mostazafan Foundation, Sana Investment Company and Farab Company.
According to official, the power plant is being built on area of 96 hectares of land, and the goal is to produce 968 megawatts of electricity.
"The main fuel of the power plant is gas, support fuel is diesel. In the event of gas outage, the station can operate for 350 hours due to the support fuel depot,” he said.
