BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 11. Iran’s renewable energy power plants generated 125 million kilowatts of electricity in the 9th month of the current Iranian year (November 22 through December 21, 2023), Trend reports.

Data from Iranian Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization shows that as a result, 34 million cubic meters of gas were saved in consumption by producing the mentioned amount of electricity.

In addition, 28 million liters of water were saved in the country as a result of the operation of the renewable energy power plants over the 9th month.

Also, the release of 70,000 tons of greenhouse gases (CO2) into the environment gas was prevented by the operation of these power plants in Iran.

In total, Iran has a renewable energy capacity of roughly 1,090 megawatts, largely from solar power facilities.

As of early December 2023, the country has begun the construction of 24 new solar power facilities with a total capacity of 1,500 megawatts.
