BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 23. Azerbaijan's production of marketable gas is expected to peak in 2024 and may hold for several years, a source in the government told Trend.
"The volume of marketable gas was 34.9 bcm in 2022 and 35.4 bcm in 2023. It is not ruled out that in 2024 this figure will reach a peak of 36 billion cubic meters, and there are reasons to believe that this plateau may be stable for about four years," the source said.
According to him, marketable gas is dispersed in the following order: first, to fulfill responsibilities under international long-term contracts, and secondly to meet the needs of the home market.
In 2023, 23.8 billion cubic meters of marketable gas were exported to Georgia, Turkey, and EU nations, while 13.4 billion cubic meters were used domestically (for industrial facilities and the population)," the source said.
Meanwhile, Azerbaijan produced 48.3 bcm of gas in 2023, this volume may exceed 49 bcm in 2024.
