Azerbaijan reveals BTC pipeline oil transportation traffic

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 15. The volume of oil transported through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline from January through July 2024 has reached 17.167 million tons, Trend reports.

According to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, this represents a decrease of 2.54 percent compared to the 17.615 million tons transported during the same period last year.

The BTC pipeline accounted for 75.4 percent of the 22.771 million tons of oil transported through Azerbaijan's main oil pipelines in the reporting period of 2024.

Of this, BTC transported 13.952 million tons of Azerbaijani oil, which constitutes 81.3 percent of the total volume delivered through the pipeline. The remaining 18.7 percent (3.214 million tons) was sent to Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.

Currently, the BTC pipeline primarily transports crude oil from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) field and condensate from Shah Deniz, along with crude oil and condensate from Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.

The shareholders of BTC Co. are: bp (30.1 percent), SOCAR (25.00 percent), MOL (8.90 percent), Equinor (8.71 percent), TPAO (6.53 percent), Eni (5.00 percent), TotalEnergies (5.00 percent), ITOCHU (3.40 percent), INPEX (2.50 percent), ExxonMobil (2.50 percent), and ONGCVidesh (2.36 percent).
