BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 22. Azerbaijan sent a hefty shipment of crude oil and petroleum products to Portugal, raking in over $109 million, with a whopping 216,000 tons of bituminous rocks making the journey in January 2025.
The data obtained by Trend from the State Customs Committee indicates that this represents an increase of over $21 million, or 24 percent, in value, and 77,000 tons, or over 55 percent, in volume compared to the same period in 2024.
Furthermore, Portugal positioned itself as the fifth largest
entity in the importation of Azerbaijani crude during the specified
reporting interval.
To note, Azerbaijan's predominant hydrocarbon exports were directed
towards Italy throughout the specified timeframe. The nation
facilitated the exportation of upwards of 1.68 million metric tons
of crude oil and petroleum derivatives sourced from bituminous
substrates to Italy in January 2025. The fiscal inflow generated
from these export activities totaled $932.7 million within the
designated reporting period.
Azerbaijan's hydrocarbon exports to the Italian market experienced
a significant uptick, with a volumetric increase of 1.5 million
tons, representing a remarkable 9.4-fold escalation, while the
fiscal valuation surged by $822.2 million, marking an impressive
8.4-fold enhancement relative to the corresponding month in the
previous year.
