ASTANA, Kazakhstan, June 25. During a working trip to the Aktobe region of Kazakhstan, the Chairman of the Management Board of KazMunayGas (KMG), Askhat Khassenov, held a production meeting regarding the operations of Urikhtau Operating, Trend reports.
In the course of the meeting, Khassenov was informed that in the first five months of 2025, the company produced 38,200 tons of oil, which is 9 percent above the planned target. Gas production reached 32.1 million cubic meters, compared to a plan of 22.6 million cubic meters, marking a 42 percent increase. The forecasted production for the full year is up to 94,000 tons of oil and 78 million cubic meters of gas.
This year, drilling of two production wells is expected to be completed at the East Urikhtau field, which will enable further growth in oil and gas output.
“Work is also underway to test two gas wells at the Central Urikhtau field to determine the physicochemical properties and composition of the gas. This will support further technological decisions as part of cooperation with CNPC-AktobeMunaiGas. In addition, five oil wells are planned for development,” the company stated.
Starting in 2026, the industrial growth of the Central Urikhtau
field is set to kick off, with gradual yearly increases in gas
production, ultimately aiming for a lofty goal of 1 billion cubic
meters each year.
Subsequent to the convening, the head of KMG mandated the
expeditious advancement of all scheduled operations at the Urikhtau
site, underscoring the field’s critical role in the evolution of
the gas sector and its socio-economic implications for the Aktobe
Region and additional territories nationwide.
Previously, at the Central Asia-China Industrial and Investment
Cooperation Forum, Urikhtau Operating and CNPC-AktobeMunaiGas
executed a memorandum to enhance strategic collaboration on the
Urikhtau initiative. The document delineates the strategic
framework for the extraction and refinement of unprocessed gas
sourced from the Central Urikhtau reservoir at the Zhanazhol Gas
Processing Facility, which boasts an operational throughput of 1
billion cubic meters annually.
