BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 29. Azerbaijan made 21.8 million payments worth 1.9 billion manat ($1.1 billion) via Apple Pay in 2023, Trend reports citing review of payment systems of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.
A total of four million payments worth 658 million manat ($387.06 million) were made through Apple Pay in Azerbaijan in 2022.
Thus, the volume of payments increased by 2.88 times.
Last year, the number of payments through Apple Pay grew by 3.1 times - up to 67.5 million transactions.
Besides, as of January 1, 2024, 20 out of 23 banks in Azerbaijan provided mobile banking services, and all domestic banks provided internet banking services.
Notably, the Apple Pay contactless payment solution was launched in the country in November 2021.
