BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 9. Azerbaijan's currency market has significantly grown during the first half of this year, Trend reports.
Data from the Central Bank of Azerbaijan's Monetary Policy Overview report shows that transactions amounting to $20.2 billion were conducted during this period, representing a 32.9 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
Of the total transaction volume, $17.8 billion were cashless currency transactions, and $2.4 billion were cash currency transactions.
Compared to the previous year, these figures increased by 32.8 percent and 33.3 percent, respectively.
Among cashless currency transactions, 81 percent were conducted in the US dollar and 19 percent in other currencies.
In cash foreign exchange transactions, 87.5 percent were in the US dollar and 12.5 percent in other currencies.
