Azerbaijan's Baku augments its catering turnover

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 4. The turnover of Baku's public catering sector grew by 4.9 percent from January through September 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, reaching 24.9 million manat ($14.65 million).

Data obtained by Trend from the Baku City Statistics Department shows that retail sales of food products, beverages, and tobacco in the city rose by 2.4 percent in the reporting period compared to the same period in 2023, reaching 14.2 billion manat ($8.3 billion).

In the meantime, sales of non-food products took a leap, climbing by 8.4 percent, which adds up to a whopping 10.7 billion manat ($6.29 billion).

As the data indicates, 36.7 percent of the sold products came from enterprises with legal entity status, 49.3 percent from individual trading facilities, and 14 percent from markets in the capital.

To note, the volume of trade turnover in Baku in 2023 rose by 7.6 percent compared to the 2022 figure, totaling 35.57 billion manat ($20.9 billion).
