Iran discloses renewables output volume at local power plants

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 5. The electricity production by renewable energy power plants in Iran exceeded 923 million kilowatt hours during four months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through July 21, 2024), Trend reports via the nation's Renewable Energy Organization.

According to the organization, 261 million kilowatt hours of electricity were generated by renewable energy power plants in the country for the fourth month (from June 21 through July 21, 2024).

The organization also said that Iran has provided a number of opportunities for investors to develop renewable energy in power plants. Investors will also have the opportunity to export a certain portion of the electricity produced to other countries.

To note, the production potential of Iran's electricity generation is 93,024 megawatts. Thermal power plants have a production potential of 75,767 megawatts, hydroelectric power plants - 12,144 megawatts, retail power plants - 2,485 megawatts. The production potential of renewable energy power plants is 1,141 megawatts, the Bushehr nuclear power plant has a production potential of 1,020 megawatts, and diesel units - 408 megawatts.
