The lack of technical capability to develop CDMA wireless communication standard can play a crucial role in stopping the provision of this service by Aztrank, the company told Trend.
The company informed Trend that now LTE technology is the most promising technology of wireless access.
"CDMA's popularity has been falling steadily, and the number of subscribers has decreased significantly in recent years. Today, CDMA wireless network is used by less than 500 subscribers. A similar situation is currently observed at the state communications operators, which began to rely on the development of LTE technology. Aztrank’s financial status does not allow the company to build its own LTE network. The requirements of consumers are shifting towards high access speeds, which is impossible to achieve using outdated CDMA 2001X technology," the company noted.
The company also did not rule out that the CDMA service may cease to exist this year, because of the difficult financial status of Aztrank.
However, the final decision on this issue, as the source said earlier, can be taken at the level of shareholders of Aztrank.
Aztrank has been operating in Azerbaijan since 1996, and until 2005, its main activity was the provision of the trunking communication services, and since 2005, the company began providing wireless service in the CDMA standard under the index of 437. The operator's network covers the cities of Baku, Sumgait and Absheron Peninsula.
