Turkmenistan’s national mobile operator Altyn Asyr (TM CELL) plans to expand the provision of mobile communications everywhere in Turkmenistan, including 3G, 4G and prospectively 5G, Trend reports referring to Turkmen Dovlet Habarlary (TDH) state news agency.
Another project of the company is aimed at the development of wired telephony that supports the standards of the new generation - Next Generation Network (NGN), where telephony, IP-TV, and Internet will be delivered from one telephone point. The Ashgabat City Telephone Network provides the installation of multi-service billing platforms.
The next project involves the modernization of the international-long-distance telephone exchange in Ashgabat. As such, it has been decided to transfer the station to IMS technology. This will allow combining the transmission of voice traffic with services based on packet switching, the information reads.
It is also planned to create a national data center, namely a center for storing and processing data, hosting server and network equipment and connecting subscribers to Internet channels.
All this will open up great opportunities in order to develop the transport and logistics system, Internet commerce and Internet marketing, conduct remote interactive multimedia training sessions, and improve the healthcare system. This would not have been possible without the launch of the TurkmenAlem 52°E national satellite, with the help of which cellular communications and Internet services were also established in remote settlements of the country, TDH notes.
The implementation of the large-scale Development of telecommunication networks of Turkmenistan project is carried out through a credit line of $273 million allocated by the Islamic Development Bank (IDB).
