The Ministry of Information and Communications Technology of Iran intends to launch 5 satellites into orbit by the end of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 to March 21, 2021) in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces Logistics, said Iran's Minister of Information and Communications Technology Mohammad-Javad Azari Jahromi, Trend reports citing the ministry.
The minister noted that a satellite was scheduled to be launched into orbit in the third month of current Iranian year (May 20-June 20).
Azari Jahromi added that however, the launch of the satellite into orbit was postponed, due to some work.
According to the minister, as for the development of artificial intelligence in Iran, it is planned to commission an Iranian supercomputer.
"This computer will be one of the 500 supercomputers in the world. This supercomputer is very important for fast data circulation and for obtaining results in artificial intelligence," he said.
Azari Jahromi stressed that the Iranian supercomputer will be commissioned in the 11th month of current Iranian year (January 20-February 18, 2021).
“The Ministry of Information and Communications Technology of Iran intends to commission Iran's first data center in Tehran during the government week (August 23-29),” he added.
The minister said that 4 trillion rials (about $95.2 million) was spent to the establishment of this center.
