Attacks on the infrastructure of IT companies in Azerbaijan, as well as various structures used for joint work, will not stop, due to distant access, Mushvig Mammadov, an official representative of Kaspersky Lab in Azerbaijan, told Trend.
According to him, the load on IT infrastructure of organizations has increased, due to extended distant work.
This may attract the attention of cybercriminals and lead to a change in the threat landscape, which will directly affect the information security of companies and their employees, Mammadov said.
“We identify two main risks when transferring employees to work outside the office. First, a significantly larger number of potentially infected devices will start connecting to the company's infrastructure as a result of using home PCs and personal gadgets,” the expert stressed.
“Secondly, the number of distant connections to the office, particularly via insecure Wi-Fi networks will increase. In addition, the volume of corporate traffic that needs to be encrypted, will also increase, because employees, in any case, will use tools for distant access to the corporate infrastructure,” Mammadov said.
He stressed that Kaspersky Lab monitors attacks on the infrastructure of organizations whose employees work distance jobs.
“We predict that attacks on distant access infrastructure will not end anytime soon. Therefore, if you use RDP in your work (ensuring distant users work with the server), then you must take all possible protection measures,” the expert added.
“Use hard-to-guess passwords, make RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) available only through a corporate VPN (Virtual Private Network), use Network Level Authentication (NLA), enable two-factor authentication when possible, and use a strong business security solution,” he said.
