Construction of a new terminal worth 150 million euro is underway in Kazakhstan’s Almaty International Airport, Trend reports with reference to the press office of Kazakhstan’s president.
The topic was discussed during the official visit of Kazakhstan’s President Kassym Jomart Tokayev to Almaty city where he got acquainted with plans for reconstruction of the Almaty Airport.
On May 8, 2020 Turkey’s TAV Airports signed a share purchase agreement to buy Kazakhstan’s Almaty International Airport.
During Tokayev’s visit, Deputy Head of TAV Airport Holding Serkan Kaptan talked about the airport reconstruction process. He said that currently the construction of a new terminal is underway. The cost of the construction is 150 million euros, total area of the terminal will be 55,000 square meters, the passengers traffic will be 6 million people a year. The terminal will be commissioned in 2Q2022.
In turn, Tokayev expressed hope that following the terminal construction the Almaty airport will become the largest air hub in Central Asia.
