Sergeli subway line of the Tashkent metro will be launched within two months, Trend reports with reference to Uzbekistan 24 TV channel.
“The cost of this project is $82.6 million. Uzbekistan Railways JSC plans to lay seven kilometers of railroads and build six stations,” the message said.
Sergeli subway line will be connected to the Almazar metro station of the Chilanzar line, which will connect densely populated Sergeli district with the center and other districts of the city.
Sergeli line passes in complicated geological conditions, the whole section is located in the nine-point seismic zone, which is taken into account during design. The stations of the new line were named Coshtepa, Toshkent Hulka Yuli, Sergeli, Afrosiab, Kipchak, and Chinor.
Earlier, Uzbekistan Railways completed the construction of Yunusabad and Turkiston metro stations of the Yunusabad line (Tashkent Metro).
The total cost of the construction of Yunusabad and Turkiston metro stations is $103.8 million.
In the future, a subway line is planned to link Tashkent, the capital, and Nurafshan city, the center of the Tashkent region.
Earlier, Uzbekistan Railways announced plans to purchase 10 new trains of Russia's Metrowagonmash production. The total purchase is over 27 million euros. Of these, 22 million euros will be allocated as a loan from Russian State Corporation Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs (Vnesheconombank), and 5.5 million euros - from the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan.
Currently, Tashkent Metro consists of three lines, operating on 36.2 kilometers of routes and serving 29 stations.
