Tractors, equipment, cars, trailers and semi-trailers worth over 352.2 million manat ($207.1 million) were produced in Azerbaijan in 2020, which is 10.4 percent more compared to 2019, Trend reports citing the data of the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan.
According to the committee, the production of trailers and semi-trailers increased by 35.7 percent over the year, while the production of tractors and equipment decreased by 5.1 percent.
Last year, 1,949 units of passenger cars were produced in Azerbaijan, which is 17.4 percent or 411 units less than in 2019. As of January 1, 2021, there are 12 percent or 199 units more spare vehicles in the country’s reserve compared to 2019 (175 units). Also, during the reporting period, 300 tractors were produced in the country, which is 66.8 percent less than in 2019, of which 99 units are in stock (289 in 2019).
In 2020, the volume of cargo transportation by all types of vehicles amounted to 188.6 million tons.
According to the committee, the decline in freight traffic on an annualized basis was 19.8 percent.
A significant share of the total volume of cargo transportation fell on road transport, which amounted to 111.5 million tons or 40.8 percent. The decrease in cargo transportation by road was 28.2 percent.
