The first shipment of polypropylene on the Kangalassy ship was organized from the Turkmenbashi International Sea Port (Turkmenistan) through the Aktau International Commercial Sea Port (Kazakhstan) on the Caspian Sea in September 2020, the port of Aktau told Trend.
"The first 48 forty-foot containers with polypropylene were delivered by sea from the port of Turkmenbashi to the port of Aktau. Then the cargo went to the Kazakh border station Altynkol for further transportation to China, " the message reads.
The report says that the positive experience of this pilot shipment can start a regular service for the delivery of polypropylene by sea.
"The participants of the shipment note that the route is optimal in terms of time and cost-effective for the export of polypropylene to China," the report says.
It is also added that this transportation will give an impetus to increase the volume of cargo flows through the ports of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.
As reported, Turkmenistan is working on developing transport cooperation with Kazakhstan and Russia.
Negotiations are underway to establish mutual communication with Aktau International Commercial Sea Port and Kuruk Seaport in Kazakhstan.
From January through August of 2020, the volume of cargo transportation across the territory of the two countries increased by 11,900 tons, compared to the same period in 2019, and reached 847,500 tons.
As earlier the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan told Trend, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan are implementing the new projects in the transport sector.
The new project in the field of transport and logistics cooperation between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan is the construction of the highway from the Turkmen side to the border with Kazakhstan and the bridge over the Garabogazgol Gulf.
The ministry noted that the implementation of this project will allow increasing trade turnover, the volume of freight, and passenger traffic.
