Construction of a new terminal at Almaty International Airport in Kazakhstan will begin in the near future, Akim (Head) of the Almaty city Bakytzhan Sagintayev said, Trend reports citing the Kazakh media.
Live on the Almaty TV channel, the head of the region emphasized: for the city to have new opportunities for economic growth, access to the city must be convenient.
"In this regard, we have an important issue - the development of the Almaty International Airport. Today, as known, there are already new investors, which have already started their work. In the near future, the construction of a new terminal will begin, upon completion of which we will already have a capacity of more than 6 million people per year. This will make it possible to better receive passengers, guests, investors, tourists," the head of the region said.
According to Sagintayev, the success of the city depends on favorable living conditions, infrastructure development, and the creation of a better business climate.
As earlier reported, TAV Airports and the Kazakhstan Infrastructure Fund completed the buyout of Almaty International Airport.
Mete Erkal was appointed President - General Director of Almaty International Airport.
