Volume of Belgian investments in Kazakh economy over past 30 years revealed

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 13. The volume of Belgian direct investment in the economy of Kazakhstan has exceeded $11 billion over the past 30 years, said the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Belgium Margulan Baimukhan, Trend reports.

He made the remark during the Kazakh-Belgian business forum in Brussels.

"Belgium is one of our economy's largest investors. Direct investment has exceeded $11 billion over the last 30 years, and the figure is rising year after year. Furthermore, trade volume has increased considerably in recent years. Today, around 70 enterprises with Belgian funding operate in the Kazakh market," he said.

In turn, the Ambassador of Belgium to Astana, Henri Vantieghem, noted the important role of Kazakhstan in the Central Asian region and invited Belgian companies to consider the possibility of deepening cooperation with business entities in this country.

In addition to this, during the event, investment opportunities were presented to the participants, as well as the potential for exporting Kazakh products to European markets.

To note, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Belgium in 2023 amounted to $523.7 million, which is 1.7 percent higher than in 2022 ($514.9 million). At the end of 2022, the volume of investments in the economy of Kazakhstan from Belgium amounted to $1.56 billion.
