ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 9. Road repair and construction work will cover 12,000 kilometers in 2024, said Transport Minister Marat Karabayev during a government meeting, Trend reports.
"This year, road repair and construction work will cover 12,000 kilometers. This is a record figure that has not been achieved before. Of these roads, 8,000 kilometers are republican roads, and 4,000 kilometers are local roads," the minister said.
As he noted, today, the total length of roads is 95,000 km, of which 25,000 are the republican network, the remaining 70,000 kilometers are local roads.
"By the end of the year, construction and repair work will be completed on 7,000 kilometers. According to the plan, reconstruction work is underway on 4 road projects with a total length of 1,955 kilometers, of which 1,866 kilometers have already been opened with new asphalt pavement. 35 asphalt concrete plants, 1,656 units of equipment and 3,300 workers are involved in the implementation of projects," Karabayev said.
To date, 13 international transport corridors have been formed and are in operation in Kazakhstan, including 5 railways and 8 roads.
Over the last decade, Kazakhstan's transportation and logistics infrastructure has received an investment of about $30 billion.
Furthermore, over the next five years, a whopping 40 billion euros will be required to carry out significant transportation infrastructure projects in Kazakhstan.
