ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 28. In September 2025, a planned terrorist attack in Kazakhstan’s Almaty was thwarted at the preparation stage by the country's National Security Committee, Trend reports, citing the committee.
The assault was purportedly orchestrated by a quintet of
non-domestic individuals, all of whom have been apprehended, and
inquiries are presently in progress.
Moreover, a cohort of eight individuals holding Kazakh citizenship
has been apprehended during the months of September and October in
the year 2025, under allegations pertaining to the dissemination of
propaganda linked to terrorism, as part of the broader framework of
active criminal inquiries. The National Security Committee has
indicated that, pursuant to Article 201, Section 1 of the Criminal
Procedure Code, the specifics of the investigative process remain
confidential and are not subject to public dissemination.
In the specified timeframe, a cohort of six individuals received
disparate incarceration durations for engaging in acts classified
as terrorist and extremist offenses, as delineated by the
intelligence outputs from the National Security Committee. Since
the commencement of the calendar year, a cumulative total of 89
individuals have undergone prosecution for analogous offenses,
encompassing six foreign nationals.
