Cement production declines in Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, July 1. A total of 1.014 million tons of cement were produced in Kyrgyzstan from January through May 2024, Trend reports.

Data from the country's National Statistical Committee indicates a 5.7 percent decrease compared to the same period in 2023, when 1.075 million tons were produced.

In May 2024, Kyrgyzstan produced 357,800 tons of cement, which is a 10.5 percent increase over the same period in 2023, when 323,700 tons were produced.

For reference, Kyrgyzstan's processing enterprises recorded a total production value of 142.989 billion soms ($1.649 billion) from January through May 2024. The physical volume index for the processing industry during January to May 2024 compared to the same period in 2023 was 103.5 percent.

Significant increases were noted in the production of refined petroleum products, which rose by 1.6 times. This growth was driven by increases in gasoline production (up by 3.7 times), fuel oil (by 42.3 percent), and diesel fuel (by 23 percent).

Industrial production in Kyrgyzstan reached 195 billion soms ($2.242 billion) from January through May 2024, which is a 2.6 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023.
