BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 30. Growth for the delivery of goods from Kyrgyzstan took a nosedive in 2024, Trend reports via the international "ATI.SU Freight Exchange".
"Last year, the number of cargo delivery requests from Kyrgyzstan to other countries increased by only six percent, while the growth in the previous year was 67 percent. The lowest indicator was in the fourth quarter (-30 percent year-on-year). Despite the market stabilization, export transportation rates increased by 36 percent over the year.
Russia continues to lead in the number of requests but showed zero growth, as did neighboring Kazakhstan. The largest increase was largely driven by Belarus (a 115 percent increase). However, the absolute figures for this direction are not large," the exchange said.
Besides, according to the exchange, the number of requests for domestic transportation also continues to grow — demand doubled over the year.
However, ATI.SU emphasized the need to consider the effect of the low base. Local companies operating in the domestic market are beginning to adopt logistics automation tools, but most still use traditional forms of communication between shippers and carriers, such as messengers and phone calls.
"In 2024, we saw the continuation of the main trends that emerged the year before. After the rapid growth in 2022, caused by anti-Russian sanctions and the restructuring of logistics processes across the CIS, the road freight transport market shifted to more steady development," commented Emirlan Beilbaev, the director of the Kyrgyz representative office of the exchange.
According to him, the most concerning point is the slowdown in the growth of export transportation on the traditionally most active Russian route.
"Probably, this is the result of new sanctions and powerful pressure from Western regulators, which have complicated payment processes. Despite the flexible approach of the Kyrgyz authorities, the country's banks are forced to comply with new restrictions," he added.
