Tajik Khatlon region boosts exports to Pakistan, Afghanistan, Türkiye

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, July 17. Trade turnover of the Khatlon region of Tajikistan amounted to 6.250 billion somoni ($571.3 million) from January through June 2023, which is 904.7 million somoni ($82.7 million) more than in the same period of 2022, the authorities of the region said, Trend reports.

The foreign trade turnover of Khatlon for this period reached $226.4 million. In total, entrepreneurs from Khatlon Region exported 7,430 tons of agricultural products by July 4, 2023.

Specifically, they exported 1,956 tons of early onions, 718 tons of vegetables, 1,555 tons of grapes, 18 tons of lemons, and 3,182 tons of other agricultural products. The majority of these exports went mainly to Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Russia, Türkiye, and Belarus.

Meanwhile, the overall volume of agricultural production in the region increased to 11.953 billion somoni ($1 billion) in the first half of 2023, which is 675.159 million somoni ($61.7 million) more than the same period in the previous year.

According to the Statistical Agency of Tajikistan, the country’s foreign trade turnover totaled $2.8 billion from January through May 2023, which is an increase of 3.9 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2022. During this period, Tajikistan engaged in trade with 104 countries.
