Tajikistan's Khatlon region notes employment growth

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, October 23. Approximately 43,800 new jobs were created in Tajikistan's Khatlon region from January through September 2023, Trend reports.

Data from the region's official statistics reveals that this figure is 1,800 more than during the same period in 2022. Additionally, this year, there are plans to open 144 new enterprises and workshops in the region.

The companies operating in the region are engaged in the production of chicken meat, meat products, juices, beverages, pasta, bakery and pastry items, as well as plastics and cleaning products.

At the same time, the total volume of agricultural production in the Khatlon region amounted to 25.4 billion somoni ($2.3 billion) from January through September 2023, which is 1.1 billion somoni ($100 million) more than in the same period of 2022.

Over the course of nine months, a total of 7,500 tons of agricultural products were exported from the region, with a significant portion of it going to Russia, Afghanistan, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, and Belarus.
