DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, August 8. The number of bank payment cards in Tajikistan reached 7.6 million as of June 30, 2024, marking a 28.7 percent increase compared to the same period last year, Trend reports via the country's National Bank.
“The number of electronic wallets in the country has increased to 10.4 million, which is 39.7 percent more than in the same period in 2023,” the bank’s statement said.
As of the reporting date, 7,939 POS terminals were installed in the country, representing a 71.2 percent growth from June of last year.
Besides, as of June 30, Tajikistan operated 2,654 ATMs and 3,597 post-terminals, which is 36.3 percent and 28.6 percent more, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
To note, the country operated 63 credit financial institutions, including 14 traditional banks, one Islamic bank, one non-bank credit organization, 19 microcredit deposit organizations, three microcredit organizations, and 25 microcredit funds in the second quarter of 2024.
The number of structural units of credit financial institutions as of the reporting date was 1,899, an increase of 18 units compared to the same period last year.
