DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, August 26. Tajikistan produced 360,931 tons of potatoes in the first seven months of 2025, marking a 1.8 percent decrease compared to the same period last year.
Data obtained by Trend from the country’s Statistical Agency shows that the largest share of production came from Khatlon region with 187,917 tons, followed by Sughd region with 111,845 tons and the regions of republican subordination (RRS) with 60,790 tons. In Gorno-Badakhshan autonomous region, potato output amounted to 378 tons.
Despite the slight decline in potato production, Tajikistan’s overall agricultural output continued to grow. Gross agricultural production reached 32.26 billion somoni ($3.4 billion) from January through July 2025, a 5 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024. Crop production accounted for 21.23 billion somoni ($2.24 billion), up by 1.9 percent, while livestock output totaled 11.03 billion somoni ($1.16 billion), reflecting an 11.4 percent rise year-on-year.
Over the reporting period, household farms contributed 46.8 percent of the total output, dehkan (peasant) farms accounted for 38.8 percent, and public farms made up 14.4 percent.
